With X-Ray Recaps, Prime Video introduces an AI-powered tool that delivers brief, easy-to-digest summaries customized to your exact moment in a show. This feature covers everything from full seasons to single episodes and even specific scenes, ensuring that you’re never out of the loop. X-Ray Recaps provides textual snippets summarizing cliffhangers, character-driven plot points, and essential details, so you can dive back into your favorite shows without missing a beat.

This new feature builds upon Prime Video’s existing X-Ray platform, which already allows viewers to explore additional insights like cast information, trivia, soundtrack details, and more. “Our product and technology teams constantly strive to enhance the Prime Video experience, and X-Ray Recaps directly addresses a common challenge faced by viewers: forgetting where they left off,” said Adam Gray, Vice President of Product at Prime Video. “With this context-aware feature, we provide summaries of memorable moments and plot points, enabling our customers to reconnect with the series they love seamlessly.”

Powered by Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed AWS service, and enhanced through Amazon SageMaker, X-Ray Recaps uses advanced AI to analyze video segments and dialogue, generating concise descriptions of key moments. Guardrails ensure summaries are spoiler-free and focused, so you can refresh your memory without any unwanted revelations.

Prime Video’s X-Ray Recaps can be launched directly from the Prime Video detail page or accessed anytime during playback. Viewers can select different recap options, including summaries of the current episode, the season so far, or even the previous season.

X-Ray Recaps is currently in beta and available to U.S. Fire TV customers starting today, with plans to expand to other devices by year’s end. The feature will initially be accessible across popular Amazon MGM Studios Original series, including Daisy Jones and the Six, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Wheel of Time, and The Boys.

With X-Ray Recaps, Prime Video continues to enhance the streaming experience by providing instant, spoiler-free refreshers, making it easier than ever for viewers to stay immersed.
