The Project

Hook:

Every school has its hierarchy. Every hierarchy has its cruelty. What happens when cruelty stops being social – and becomes something that gets inside your head and won’t let go? School starts where the damage begins and refuses to stop there.

Concept:

School is a psychological horror feature sitting at the intersection of Gen Z social anxiety and supernatural escalation – the tonal territory occupied by Get Out ($252M box office on a $5M budget) and Talk To Me ($92M on $4.5M). The low-budget horror genre consistently produces the highest profit multiples in independent film, and this project is built to capitalise on that track record with name cast already attached, a production-ready structure, and a 30% New Mexico tax rebate already pre-qualified. At $2.61M total budget, the upside is disproportionate.

Format:

Feature Film · 2026 Production · Psychological Horror · Theatrical + VOD

Comparables:

Get Out (2017) — ~50x theatrical return on budget · Social horror breakout

Saw (2004) — ~87x theatrical return on budget · Micro-budget genre benchmark

Talk To Me (2023) — ~20x theatrical return on budget · Recent indie horror success

The Opportunity

The Ask:

$1.54M equity investment (65% of production budget). Dark Gordon Productions contributing 2% directly; 30%+ secured via New Mexico tax credits and pre-sales. LLC structure – investors hold membership interests.

Why Now:

Horror held a 17.2% share of the U.S. box office as of October 2025 and generated over $1.6B in revenue that year, with streaming platforms showing 7.43% horror viewership share across major services. The $2M–$5M independent horror window is historically the most profitable in film – and distribution appetite for the genre at this budget level has never been stronger.

De-Risked From Day One:

New Mexico 30% production tax rebate — Pre-qualified for Las Cruces shoot; $783K offset built into the budget

Name cast attached — Emmy-nominated talent and genre-recognisable actors reduce acquisition risk and support distributor conversations before principal photography

Above-the-line crew with franchise credits — Department heads from Black Panther, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Stranger Things productions

Collection account management — Independent payment protection for all investors and parties secured prior to distribution
