Hottest IP [Stories, Formats, Books, Games, Podcasts] to be turned into the next big blockbuster- Amazon MGM Studios is adapting James Patterson and Duane Swierczynski’s upcoming novel Billion-Dollar Ransom into a feature film, with Stephen Gaghan writing the screenplay. Production + Seasonal Renewal
Sneak peak into recently announced production projects worldwide- GKIDS will co-produce and distribute 100 Meters, the latest film from director Kenji Iwaisawa (ON-GAKU: Our Sound). Adapted from Uoto’s manga, the sports drama follows two childhood rivals reunited on the track. (🇺🇸)
- Helluva Boss is making its streaming debut on Prime Video with a two-season renewal, after gaining a cult following on YouTube. The dark animated comedy, created by Vivienne Medrano, follows the chaotic antics of Blitzo and his demonic assassination crew at I.M.P. Set in Hell, the show mixes violent absurdity, supernatural satire, and twisted humor.
Japan’s Toei Co has partnered with South Africa’s Pambili Media to co-develop Yasuke – Way of the Butterfly, a historical epic based on the true story of an African warrior who became a samurai in 16th-century Japan. Written and directed by Mandla Dube, the film is part of Pambili Media’s six-title slate backed by South Africa’s Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), highlighting cross-continental ties between Africa and Asia. (🇯🇵) - Marvel Studios has officially begun filming Avengers: Doomsday at Pinewood Studios under the working title Apple Pie 1, with the Russo brothers directing and Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom. That’s a Wrap: Filming Is Complete!
Projects that have concluded filming are now moving into post-production- Now You See Me 3 has officially wrapped filming and is set to hit theaters on November 14, 2025. - Sam Raimi’s Send Help, starring Dylan O’Brien and Rachel McAdams, has wrapped filming. The horror-thriller produced under his own banner Raimi Productions follows two crash survivors on an island and marks Raimi’s directorial return post-Doctor Strange. (🇺🇸)
- Netflix has wrapped production on Wednesday Season 2, filmed in Ireland and directed by Tim Burton. Produced by MGM Television, the season returns August 6 and stars Jenna Ortega, Steve Buscemi, and Joanna Lumley. (🇺🇸)

Distributors securing worldwide content across different genres, languages and format types- MetFilm Distribution has acquired UK-Ireland rights to Savages, Claude Barras’s stop-motion animated feature, with a theatrical release set for August 1. - Greenwich Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Omaha, Cole Webley’s feature debut starring John Magaro, with a theatrical release set for later this year. Produced by Sanctuary Content in association with Kaleidoscope Pictures and Monarch Content. (🇺🇸)
- Anime Limited and Plaion Pictures have acquired distribution rights to Baku Kinoshita and Kazuya Konomoto’s The Last Blossom—from the creators of ODDTAXI—for the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, Australia, and Switzerland. - Vue Lumière has acquired UK and Ireland rights to The Thing with Feathers, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, from mk2 Films, marking its first major dramatic feature acquisition. Streamers & channels acquiring latest content across the world- Cineverse’s RetroCrush has acquired streaming rights to Future Boy Conan, Hayao Miyazaki’s directorial debut, through a multi-year deal with GKIDS. All 26 episodes are now streaming weekly in the U.S., with special features including Anime Club podcast discussions. (🇺🇸)
- Peacock has acquired Civil War (Or, Who Do We Think We Are), a documentary directed by Rachel Boynton and executive produced by Brad Pitt, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Dede Gardner, and others. The film will premiere June 17 on Peacock and later air on MSNBC in October. (🇺🇸)
- Shudder has acquired supernatural thriller Good Boy, from the filmmakers, with Amy Beecroft of Verve Ventures negotiating the deal on their behalf. Ben Leonberg’s SXSW-premiered debut told through a dog’s eyes, is set for release in the U.S., Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
Mubi has acquired rights for Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value in the U.K., Ireland, Latin America, Turkey, and India. The acquisition was announced just after the film was revealed as part of the 2025 Cannes official competition lineup.
