Steven Paul's SP Media Group Expands with Acquisition of Avenue Six Studios
LOS ANGELES, May 20, 2025 — SP Media Group, led by veteran film producer Steven Paul, has acquired Avenue Six Studios, a notable production facility located in Van Nuys, California. This move is part of SP Media Group’s broader strategy to expand its U.S.-based production capabilities.
Studio to Serve as Production Hub
Originally founded in 2009 by Paul Reitzen, Avenue Six Studios includes four fully equipped sound stages and a New York-style backlot. The facility has previously hosted productions ranging from television talk shows to commercials and feature films. It will now serve as a primary site for SP Media Group’s upcoming projects, with three productions already scheduled for 2025.
Enhancing Versatility and Infrastructure
Scott Karol, President of SP Media Group/Atlas Comics, emphasized the studio’s adaptability, noting plans to use the space for film and television projects as well as branded content, music videos, and podcasts. Planned upgrades include the addition of a virtual LED production stage and a post-production facility with editing and audio suites.
Continued Investment in U.S. Production
The acquisition aligns with broader efforts by Steven Paul to revitalize domestic film and television production. Paul recently proposed a federal initiative to support the industry with tax incentives, training programs, and infrastructure investment, currently under review by the White House.
Long-Term Vision for Hollywood Filmmaking
Paul expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition’s potential impact:
“We’re committed to making films in Hollywood and making Avenue Six Studios the most producer-friendly studio for filmmakers from around the world.”
