The Best Short Film Award was awarded to Fares Shaheen for his film ‘The Red Shoes’ from Syria.

Sharjah Media City (Shams) recently hosted the prestigious Shams Awards for Arabic Content, where H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, recognized the achievements of various winners. This event, held at the Shams headquarters, celebrated remarkable contributions to Arabic content creation, as reported by WAM.

In his opening address, Rashid Abdullah Al Obaid, Director of Sharjah Media City, emphasized the award’s significance in nurturing a creative ecosystem that supports content creators and enhances the quality of Arabic media. He noted that this initiative aligns with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, highlighting the vital role of media in shaping societies and preserving Arab identity.

Al Obaid encouraged emerging creatives to share their experiences and innovative ideas, fostering skill development and contributing to the dynamic media landscape.

During the awards ceremony, several exceptional creators were honored for their contributions. The Stories podcast by Jamal Al Mulla from the UAE clinched first place in the Best Arabic Podcast category, followed by Secrets of Money by Egypt’s Ahmed Al Jamal in second place and Art by Badr Al Awadhi from the UAE in third.

In the Best Short Film category, Fares Shaheen from Syria won the top prize for his film The Red Shoes, while Libya’s Gabriel Al Nuwaiji received the award for Best Video for a Commercial Advertisement.

Following the awards, H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi participated in the annual media gathering organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau.
