This initiative will enhance and facilitate cross-border co-productions.
The Saudi Film Commission has officially joined the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet), a non-profit organization established in 2004. AFCNet encompasses over 50 members from 19 countries and regions across Asia, including film commissions, production offices, and related entities. This strategic move is designed to bolster international collaborations and promote the exchange of expertise within the film industry.
Becoming a member of AFCNet is a pivotal achievement for the Saudi Film Commission in its mission to elevate the Kingdom’s film sector. By supporting local and regional film initiatives and fostering co-productions, the commission aims to enrich the global cinematic landscape while encouraging cultural exchange.
The commission is committed to creating opportunities for filmmakers by offering innovative platforms to showcase their work, facilitating distribution, and positioning Saudi Arabia as a premier filming destination. Through competitive incentive programs and initiatives, the commission aspires to accelerate the production of high-quality films and establish Saudi Arabia as a hub for creative excellence.
This membership aligns with the commission’s recent partnership with the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), announced in June 2024. Together, these efforts are geared towards enhancing Saudi Arabia’s global footprint in the film industry and fostering collaboration between local talents, national production companies, and international partners.
