No Other Land, a highly regarded documentary that explores the bond between a Palestinian activist and an Israeli journalist amid the ongoing conflict in the occupied West Bank, will be accessible throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) starting April 1. Viewers can rent or purchase the film on OSN Store via set-top boxes and Apple TV, with rental priced at Dh19.99 and purchase at Dh49.99.

 

Recently, Front Row Filmed Entertainment acquired the distribution rights for this impactful documentary across the MENA region. They plan to release the film in select cinemas shortly, followed by a premium Video on Demand (VOD) offering throughout MENA.

 

Directed by Palestinian activist Basel Adra and Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham, No Other Land chronicles Adra’s efforts to document the devastation of his hometown, which has been designated for military training. With Abraham’s support, the film highlights the pressing issues of displacement and resistance.

 

This documentary serves as a vital act of resistance, capturing the ongoing conflict in the region. A co-production between Palestine and Norway, it premiered at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, where it won both the Panorama Audience Award for Best Documentary and the Berlinale Documentary Film Award. Since then, it has garnered an impressive 68 awards from various global film festivals, including accolades from the Boston Society of Film Critics, the European Film Awards, and the Gotham Independent Film Awards. Notably, the documentary achieved a historic milestone by winning Best Documentary Feature at the 2025 Academy Awards, marking it as the first documentary to secure an Oscar without a traditional distribution deal.

 

Despite challenges in obtaining distribution in the US, the filmmakers chose to pursue self-distribution in partnership with Cinetic Media, which assisted with theatrical bookings. The film debuted on February 2 in a single-screen release, earning $26,000, and later expanded to 120 screens, surpassing $1.2 million in box office revenue over four weeks.

 

No Other Land offers a poignant glimpse into life in Masafer Yatta, a rural area of the West Bank where Palestinian villagers face the constant threat of expulsion by Israeli Defense Forces, who claim the land for military training.

 

The documentary follows Adra, a young Palestinian activist from Masafer Yatta, as he battles against the mass displacement of his community. Since childhood, Adra has documented the demolition of homes and the forced removal of residents under military occupation. His narrative intertwines with that of Abraham, an Israeli journalist who supports his cause. However, the stark contrast between their realities—Adra’s life under occupation and Abraham’s life in freedom—creates tension in their collaboration.

 

Filmed over four years from 2019 to 2023, the documentary concluded production in October 2023, providing a deeply personal and urgent perspective on life under occupation.
