New Wizards of the Coast office opening in Montreal

Hasbro is opening a new Wizards of the Coast office in Montreal that will serve as a “game development hub” and could create around 200 jobs over the next three years.

According to a news release, the office will open in 2026 and operate in Montreal as ‘Wizards of the Coast Studios Inc.’ It will sit alongside Invoke Studios, another Montreal-based studio acquired by Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast in 2019.

As of 2022, Invoke Studios (previously called Tuque Games) was working on a triple-A title “derived from the Dungeons & Dragons universe.” Hasbro expects its new hub to develop fresh content for Dungeons & Dragons and support Wizards of the Coast’s growing digital games portfolio.

Dan Ayoub, Wizards of the Coast’s senior vice president of digital games, said the company had “over $1 billion in games” in development as of 2024. At that time, the company had four studios working on triple-A games: Invoke Studios, Atomic Arcade, Archetype, and Skeleton Key.

Hasbro’s games and digital business headquarters will remain in Renton, Washington—where Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons workers are largely stationed.

Hasbro said in September that its Washington office housed more than 500 employees. The company operates in 40 locations, according to its website, including Rhode Island, California, and Florida.

Hasbro announced in September that it intends to relocate its Rhode Island office to Boston. The new space will act as the “primary headquarters for Hasbro’s toys, board games, and licensing businesses.”
