The Mediapro Studio Expands U.S. Hispanic Content Strategy
The North American division of The Mediapro Studio has appointed former Apple TV+ creative executive Francesca Ricagni as the inaugural Head of U.S. Hispanic Content. This strategic move comes as the studio intensifies its operations in the region.
Strengthening English-Language and Hispanic Content
Established just last year, the studio’s new Los Angeles-based operation, under the leadership of J.C. Acosta, has been enhancing its English-language content. Ricagni will spearhead the complementary strategy for U.S. Hispanic content, targeting Spanish-language television channels, operators, and streaming platforms across North America. This initiative taps into a lucrative Latino market, which boasts over 60 million individuals in the U.S. and more than 650 million globally.
Acosta’s Endorsement
“Francesca’s extensive experience, robust network of talent relationships, and deep understanding of engaging U.S. Hispanic audiences make her an ideal addition to our team,” Acosta remarked.
Ricagni’s Vision
“Joining The Mediapro Studio U.S. and Canada at such a pivotal moment in our industry is truly inspiring. It presents a unique opportunity to share rich, authentic stories that resonate with the U.S. Hispanic audience while captivating a global audience,” Ricagni expressed. She added, “Together with the rising and exceptional Hispanic talent, we’re eager to break new ground, showcasing our diverse, multi-layered experiences and creating content that celebrates our stories, culture, and unique perspectives on the global stage.”
Proven Track Record at Apple TV+
Ricagni has been instrumental in the success of several acclaimed projects at Apple TV+. Notably, she played a key role in bringing “Land of Women,” featuring Eva Longoria in her first Spanish-speaking lead role, to the platform. She also contributed to the hit series “Acapulco,” starring Eugenio Derbez, which has received widespread acclaim, including the Comedy Series Award at the Critics Choice Awards during the 4th annual Celebration of Latino Cinema and Television. Additionally, she worked on the groundbreaking “Midnight Family,” produced by Fabula, the company of Oscar-winning director Pablo Larraín, which won Best International Series at the same Critics Choice event, further enhancing the platform’s presence in the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets.
Previous Experience at Amazon Studios
Prior to her role at Apple TV+, Ricagni was at Amazon Studios, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the studio’s original Latin American programming. She oversaw the development of over 30 projects, including popular titles like “Como Sobrevivir Soltero,” “Porno y Helado,” “El Fin del Amor,” and the second season of “Juego de las Llaves.”
