Creature Commandos Renewed for Second Season on Max

The Max Original adult animated series Creature Commandos, created and executive produced by DC Studios Co-Chair James Gunn, has officially been renewed for a second season. New episodes will be released weekly every Thursday on Max, with the Season 1 finale scheduled for January 9.

Creature Commandos follows a covert team of imprisoned monsters enlisted for missions that are too perilous for humans. When all other options fail, they become the last resort.

“Only James Gunn could have brought together this eclectic group of misfit monsters who resonate emotionally and compel viewers to root for them,” stated Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of HBO & Max Comedy Programming. “We are thrilled to continue their narratives alongside James, Dean Lorey, Peter Safran, and our outstanding partners at DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation.”

“Thanks to James’s incredible creativity and the skills of our talented artists, DC fans have embraced this new ensemble of heroes,” remarked Peter Girardi, Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation. “We are eager to keep this exciting journey going with our partners at Max. If you want more monsters, we’re delivering more monsters!”

The series features voice talents including Steve Agee as Economos, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sean Gunn as GI Robot & Weasel, David Harbour as Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Indira Varma as The Bride, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Max for another season of Creature Commandos chaos,” said Gunn and Peter Safran. “From our spectacular first season of Peacemaker to the remarkable success of The Penguin and the record-breaking launch of Creature Commandos, Max has consistently exceeded industry expectations and our wildest dreams. Thank you to Casey, Sarah, Pia, Sono, and the entire team for their incredible support of DC Studios. We are proud to call Max our home.”

Creature Commandos is based on DC characters and produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation, with additional executive producers including Safran, Dean Lorey, and Sam Register. Rick Morales serves as supervising producer. The series marks the inaugural title in the new DC Universe.
