Esteemed Marvel Studios development executive Nate Moore is departing the studio to explore opportunities in independent producing.
Moore will continue his role at Marvel until the release of February’s Captain America: Brave New World, and he is also set to produce a third installment of Black Panther in the future.
Joining the studio in 2010, Moore produced Black Panther, a film directed by Ryan Coogler that became a significant cultural and commercial success, earning over $1.3 billion and receiving a nomination for best picture at the Oscars, ultimately winning three Academy Awards.
“Nate is an outstanding executive and colleague, as well as a dear friend to all of us at Marvel Studios. He has been an integral part of our team since 2010, and his impact will continue to resonate in our storytelling. Although we will greatly miss him, we are excited to see what he accomplishes next while also having the opportunity to collaborate with him on our upcoming Black Panther film,” stated Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito of Marvel Studios.
Moore’s production credits include Eternals (2021) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), along with the Disney+ series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. He also contributed to projects such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and Captain America: Civil War (2016), where he is recognized for suggesting Black Panther’s introduction in that film and advocating for the character. Earlier in his career, he aided in the development of the Guardians of the Galaxy script through the Marvel Writer’s Program, which was designed to help emerging writers explore Marvel’s library for potential film adaptations.
“Almost everything I know about producing, I’ve acquired during my time at Marvel Studios,” Moore expressed. “I feel fortunate to have collaborated with individuals who share my passion for filmmaking and storytelling, both among my Marvel colleagues and the cast and crew of our films. I am thrilled to channel my experience and love for film into theatrical projects across all genres, including returning to the realm of Wakanda for Black Panther 3.”
