Exciting New Series: Lil Kev Coming to BET+

The highly anticipated adult animated series Lil Kev, produced by Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat, is set to premiere on BET+ this Spring.

“The narrative of Lil Kev was one we were eager to develop from the moment it was proposed,” shared Jason Harvey, EVP of Strategy and Operations at BET+. “The addition of a dynamic cast enhances our storytelling, making this project an ideal match for our subscribers. It allows us to authentically represent the diverse experiences of our comedy and animation-loving audience.”

Set in the vibrant backdrop of 1993 North Philadelphia, the series chronicles the life of 12-year-old Hart, whose vivid imagination and unwavering optimism often clash with the tough realities of his neighborhood. Meanwhile, his determined mother, Nancy, balances her demanding night shifts as an E.R. nurse while fiercely working to keep Kev on the right path. Through humor, resilience, and heart, Lil Kev navigates his challenging upbringing, surrounded by unforgettable characters who will help him on his journey to comedy superstardom.

Wanda Sykes lends her voice to Hart’s mother, Nancy, while Deon Cole portrays Uncle Richard Jr., Nancy’s ambitious younger brother. Additional casting announcements are forthcoming.

Executive producers for Hartbeat include Hart, Bryan Smiley, Jeff Clanagan, Mike Stein, and Candice Wilson Cherry, with Tiffany Brown serving as co-executive producer. Matthew Claybrooks and Michael Price will act as both executive producers and showrunners. Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico will also executive produce for ShadowMachine, while Jason Harvey and Rose Catherine Pinkney will executive produce for BET+.
