Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, known for their work on Nickelodeon’s Good Burger films and the ’90s sitcom Kenan & Kel, are joining forces once again as producers and stars of the upcoming horror comedy Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein. The film, co-produced by Thompson’s Artists for Artists and Range Media Partners, is scheduled to begin filming this summer.

Inspired by the classic Abbott and Costello monster movies, the story follows two delivery drivers whose routine job takes a frightening turn when they arrive at a mysterious castle and accidentally awaken Frankenstein’s monster. What starts as an ordinary night quickly becomes a fight for survival.

The script is being written by Jonah Feingold (At Midnight, 31 Candles). Thompson and Mitchell will produce alongside John Ryan Jr., Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Carter Swan. Executive producers include Will Hariton, Azim Spicer, and Monica Weber. Range Media Partners is managing sales for the project.

Thompson announced the project on Prime Video’s Good Sports, expressing his excitement: “Kel and I have always loved finding new ways to work together, and this project felt like the perfect mix of nostalgia, comedy, and something completely unexpected. We’re excited to bring a fresh take on a classic monster story and have some fun doing it.”

Mitchell added, “Coming back together always feels natural, and this lets us tap into everything people love about our dynamic while trying something totally new. It’s funny, it’s scary, and it’s a great ride.”

Thompson and Mitchell first met while working on Nickelodeon’s All That before collaborating on Kenan & Kel (1996-2000), Good Burger (1997), and most recently, Good Burger 2 (2023).

  • Thompson and Ryan Jr. are represented by Range Media Partners.
  • Mitchell is represented by Innovative Artists, Untitled Entertainment, and Mark S. Temple.
  • Feingold is represented by UTA, Untitled, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
