Jellyfish Pictures is expanding its global footprint with the launch of a new VFX studio in Toronto, Canada. This strategic move aims to tap into the region’s rich talent pool and enhance collaboration on upcoming projects.
The award-winning global VFX and animation studio Jellyfish Pictures is making waves with its expansion into the Canadian market. The studio has officially launched its VFX operations in Toronto, marking a significant step in its rapid growth trajectory.
This move follows the establishment of a new site in Mumbai, India, in 2023, showcasing Jellyfish Pictures’ commitment to meeting client demand while enhancing its creative team. By setting up a base in Canada, the studio aims to foster closer collaboration with some of the industry’s top global talent.
In discussing this exciting expansion, Phil Greenlow, Managing Director of VFX, expressed his enthusiasm: “I am thrilled for us to expand our VFX division into Canada. Jellyfish Pictures is powered by a global community of amazing artists. Since some of the world’s finest VFX talent is concentrated in Toronto, it’s the obvious next stop on our international roadmap. Coupled with the recent influx of production activity in Ontario, we can’t wait for our team to create compelling visual effects in this vibrant location.”
David Patton, CEO, added, “It’s an exciting time for Jellyfish Pictures, as we continue to grow our talented team of creatives and further expand our operations globally. We opened our 200-seat Mumbai studio at the end of last year and believe now is the right time for us to establish a strong presence in the Canadian market.”
Recently, Jellyfish Pictures has completed VFX for several critically acclaimed feature films, including The Creator and Asteroid City. The studio has also worked on television projects such as The Gentlemen and Constellation, as well as the Oscar-winning live-action short, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.
Looking ahead, upcoming projects for 2024 include Ellen Kuras’ Lee, featuring Kate Winslet, Netflix’s Kaos, and the highly anticipated fantasy adventure series Nautilus.
