LONDON, June 10, 2025 – Global Streaming Expansion
Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) announced that its streaming platform, HBO Max, will expand into 12 new countries this July, bringing its total presence to approximately 90 markets. The move is part of WBD’s strategy to reach 100 global territories and accelerate international growth, with a focus on Europe and Asia.
New Territories Announced
The 12 markets include Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Albania, Armenia, Cyprus, Georgia, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malta, and Tajikistan. These launches follow HBO Max’s debut in Turkey earlier this year, where WBD transitioned BluTV into a broader streaming platform, and the streamer’s expansion into Australia.
Continued International Momentum
“This continued global expansion of HBO Max is helping fuel the great momentum we continue to see for the service,” said JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming & Games at WBD. He noted further launches planned for later this year, followed by Germany, Italy, and the U.K. in early 2026.
Content Lineup and Features
In the new markets, HBO Max will offer its established portfolio, including titles from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, and Max Originals. Featured titles include The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Peacemaker, Task, and IT: Welcome to Derry, along with films like A Minecraft Movie and the Harry Potter series.
In select markets, HBO Max will also stream sports content, including Grand Slam tennis, cycling’s Grand Tours, and key winter sports events. Availability will vary by country.
Subscription Options
HBO Max will introduce two subscription tiers: the Standard Plan (HD streaming on two devices and up to 30 downloads) and the Premium Plan (4K UHD streaming on four devices, Dolby Atmos where supported, and up to 100 downloads).
European Market Performance
Europe has emerged as HBO Max’s fastest-growing international region. Since its launch, users in Europe have streamed over 2.5 billion hours. Titles such as House of the Dragon, The Penguin, Dune: Prophecy, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga have topped viewer charts, along with local original productions, particularly in Poland.
