“You need ambition. You’ll run the music school.” Vertigo Releasing from the UK has just launched the official trailer for a delightful French family comedy titled The Marching Band, originally known as En Fanfare in French. This uplifting narrative about two estranged brothers reuniting made its debut at the prestigious 2024 Cannes Film Festival in the Cannes Premiere section. The story follows acclaimed conductor Thibaut, who is battling leukemia and in need of a bone marrow donor. Upon discovering he was adopted, he finds his older brother, a musician and factory worker. Their reunion ignites a heartfelt musical journey against the backdrop of their town’s factory closure. The film has already proven to be a success in France, grossing an impressive €18 million at the box office and receiving 7 César Award nominations, including Best Film and Best Actor. The Marching Band features a talented cast including Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Lottin, Sarah Suco, and Jacques Bonnaffé. It is set to hit UK theaters this May, although a US release date is yet to be announced—stay tuned! This film promises to be a wonderful blend of humor, charm, and quirkiness.

The Marching Band, also known as En Fanfare, is directed by the talented French actor and filmmaker Emmanuel Courcol, known for his previous works Ceasefire and The Big Hit. The screenplay is co-written by Emmanuel Courcol and Irène Muscari, in collaboration with Oriane Bonduel and Marianne Tomersy. Produced by Marc Bordure and Robert Guédiguian, this film premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. Vertigo Releasing is set to launch The Marching Band in UK cinemas starting May 16th, 2025.
