Universal Pictures is set to unveil DreamWorks Animation’s latest original animated feature, Forgotten Island, on September 25, 2026. This release will replace the previously scheduled Untitled DreamWorks Animation film on the studio’s upcoming slate.

Creative Team Behind the Film

Directed and written by the talented duo Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, Forgotten Island promises to be a standout project. The film will be produced by Crawford’s long-time collaborator, Mark Swift. Their previous work on Puss in Boots: The Last Wish garnered them nominations for prestigious awards including the Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe, showcasing their ability to create critically acclaimed content. This project marks their third collaboration, and it also serves as Mercado’s directorial debut, following his role as co-director on Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and head of story for The Croods: A New Age.
