Court TV Partners with Veritone for Legal Content Management
Court TV has secured a partnership with the AI company Veritone to manage and monetize its vast collection of archival legal content.
Since its inception in 1991, Court TV has provided extensive coverage of many landmark trials in U.S. history.
With Veritone’s “Digital Media Hub,” Court TV’s content will become readily available to affiliate network stations, media professionals, partners, and legal organizations.
According to Ryan Steelberg, CEO of Veritone, “The interest and demand right now for sensational legal cases is at an all-time high, and Court TV is the clear leader in that area. This will be a significant benefit for them, and we’re proud to be their technical partner,” as reported by Deadline.
Expanding Opportunities through Licensing
Veritone will also license Court TV’s content to filmmakers, documentarians, and podcasters, aiming to “capitalize on new revenue opportunities by broadening the audience for its unique content,” the company stated.
Veritone’s Growing Role in Entertainment
This collaboration signifies Veritone’s ongoing expansion into the film and television sector, having recently partnered with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to manage clients’ digital assets. This deal led to the creation of the “CAAVault,” a synthetic media vault for storing all intellectual property linked to CAA talent’s name, image, and likeness, including digital scans and voice recordings.
Steelberg emphasized that Veritone should be seen as a partner rather than an adversary in the AI space. He noted that the CAA partnership was a “good decision,” positioning both organizations at the forefront of a “transformation” in the entertainment industry.
AI Collaboration in Hollywood
Reflecting current trends, even unions are exploring partnerships with AI firms. SAG-AFTRA has announced multiple agreements this year, enabling members to collaborate with these companies to license their digital replicas under mutually agreed terms.
Steelberg highlighted that ongoing collaborations with AI companies in Hollywood will necessitate “education for all parties,” as many remain cautious about the technology’s role in the industry.
“As we observed with CGI and earlier computer graphics technologies, the industry experienced significant growth during that time,” he stated. “Will certain areas be disproportionately affected? Certainly. Can we predict the exact impact on labor? Not necessarily, but through collaboration, we can anticipate a more expansive ecosystem in the coming decades.”
