Acquisition Overview

Concord Originals has finalized the acquisition of RKO Pictures, inheriting derivative rights to more than 5,000 classic titles—including Alfred Hitchcock’s Suspicion. The deal, acquired from long-time owner Ted Hartley, grants Concord the ability to develop remakes, sequels, stage adaptations, unproduced screenplays, and related content.

Leadership Transition

RKO will continue as a distinct imprint under Concord Originals. Sophia Dilley (Concord Originals head) and Mary Beth O’Connor (current RKO president) have been appointed Co-Presidents. Ted Hartley transitions to Chairman Emeritus of RKO and will serve as lead producer and storyteller. He’s also launching Roseblood Pictures to focus on original programming and literary adaptations.

Strategic Vision

Concord CEO Bob Valentine stated the acquisition “widens Concord’s foothold in film, television, and theatrical rights” and provides a deep catalog for reimagining. RKO’s legacy includes franchises such as King Kong, the Val Lewton horror library, The Falcon and The Saint detective series, and nine decades of cinematic history.

Active Projects & Pipeline

RKO currently has seven titles in active development across genres—from musicals to westerns to thrillers. One immediate priority is the stage adaptation of Top Hat, opening this summer in Chichester, with a UK tour planned later this year.
