In a significant boost for Argentina’s audiovisual industry, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, the Argentine Chamber of the Film Industry (CAIC), and global streaming giant Netflix have officially signed a collaboration agreement designed to foster new talent and position the city and nation as a central hub for audiovisual content production and distribution in the region.

Strategic Vision for the Audiovisual Sector

This agreement—coordinated between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Economic Development of Buenos Aires, CAIC, and Netflix—is designed to strengthen the competitiveness of Argentina’s audiovisual industry by promoting inclusivity and providing growth opportunities, particularly for underrepresented communities.

Key Initiatives to Strengthen the Industry

1. Federal Meeting on Audiovisual Production: “Industry in Focus”

Scheduled for April 10-11, 2025, as part of the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival (BAFICI), this event will unite audiovisual production companies from Argentina’s six regions: NOA, NEA, Cuyo, Patagonia, Centro Norte, and Centro Metropolitana. The meeting will facilitate national collaboration and knowledge sharing through roundtable discussions on topics such as co-productions, digital platforms, cash rebate programs, and regional project development.

Four production companies per region—24 in total—will be selected to participate, with invitations covering airfare, accommodation, travel expenses, and full event accreditation, including additional BAFICI networking activities. Applications are open from March 14 to 24, with selected participants announced on March 26.

Interested parties can register by filling out the online form and following @industriaenfoco on Instagram for further details.

2. Call for Proposals: Supporting Second Audiovisual Projects

This initiative offers targeted financial support and specialized training programs designed specifically for filmmakers embarking on the development of their second audiovisual project. The goal is to equip participants with essential skills, knowledge, and resources necessary for successful project execution.

3. Training and Capacity Building Agenda

Throughout 2025, the collaboration will offer a comprehensive series of masterclasses led by renowned international experts in the audiovisual sector. These masterclasses aim to advance the professionalization and industry knowledge of Argentine creators, fostering new talent and equipping them for national and international success.

A Strong Commitment to Audiovisual Growth

This landmark agreement underscores the commitment of the City of Buenos Aires, CAIC, and Netflix to nurturing a robust and dynamic audiovisual ecosystem. By enhancing local talent and industry capabilities, the collaboration will significantly expand Argentina’s presence and competitiveness within global audiovisual markets.
