Hottest IP [Stories, Formats, Books, Games, Podcasts] to be turned into the next big blockbuster- Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired the rights to Chris Colfer’s bestselling The Land of Stories series, with Phil Johnston set to pen the live-action adaptation. - Universal has acquired film rights to Tony-nominated John Proctor Is the Villain, with Tina Fey and Marc Platt producing and playwright Kimberly Belflower adapting the screenplay. Production + Seasonal Renewal
Sneak peak into recently announced production projects worldwide- Globalsphere Studios, in partnership with Shemaroo Entertainment, has begun production on Bitter Justice, its second Turkish drama following the global success of Alaca. Set to premiere at MIPCOM 2025, the series explores themes of corruption, vengeance, and female resilience, with Nöbetçi Yapım returning as production partner. (🇦🇪)
- NBC’s The Voice will return in spring 2026 with a rebranded Season 29 titled Battle of Champions, featuring past winners Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine as coaches. The revamped format introduces four new competition rounds, including a Triple Turn Challenge, a Super Steal, an All-Star Knockout judged by CeeLo Green, and live audience voting during the semi-finals and finale.
- SVT has commissioned Double Up Love (working title), a new dating format from Banijay’s Meter/Jarowskij featuring bisexual singles exploring romance in a villa setting. That’s a Wrap: Filming Is Complete!
Projects that have concluded filming are now moving into post-production- Executive producer Emma Roberts confirmed that filming for Tell Me Lies season 2 has recently wrapped. The Hulu drama, based on Carola Lovering’s novel, promises an unexpected second installment. (🇺🇸)
- Netflix’s XO, Kitty Season 3 has officially wrapped filming. The cast announced the news for the spin-off, which continues Kitty Song Covey’s love story in South Korea, expected in early 2026. (🇺🇸)
- Shanaya Kapoor has wrapped filming for Shujaat Saudagar’s upcoming Bollywood movie ‘JC,’ with the director hinting her character is named Diana. The film features her alongside Abhay Verma. (🇮🇳)

Distribution Deals
Distributors securing worldwide content across different genres, languages and format types- Harris Dickinson’s directorial debut, Urchin, a drama about homelessness and mental health in London, has been acquired by 1-2 Special for North American distribution. The film, which won two awards at Cannes, will receive a theatrical release this fall. (🇬🇧)
- Synapse has acquired the distribution rights for the romantic comedy Peak Everything in Latin America. This deal was secured by Indie Sales as the film expands its international reach. (Latin America)
- Salaud Morisset, a Canadian sales agent, is bringing the Canadian animated film Silent Rebellion to Venice. The film previously received a special mention at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. (🇨🇦)
- Well Go USA Entertainment secured North American distribution rights for Gabriele Mainetti’s Italian kung-fu film The Forbidden City, a martial arts movie set in Rome. (🇺🇸)
- Deaf Crocodile and Cartuna acquired North American distribution rights for Tamala 2030: A Punk Cat in Dark, the sequel to the cult anime “Tamala 2010.” Directed by K. and Kuno (t.o.l), the film follows Tamala and Michelangelo as they investigate disappearances in Cat Japan. (🇯🇵)
Acquisition Deals
Streamers & channels acquiring latest content across the world- MGM+ UK has acquired the rights to Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the prequel series from Sony Pictures Television. The highly anticipated show is set to premiere on Starz in the US and Canada on August 8. (🇬🇧)
- BIG Media has finalized licensing agreements for two true-crime series, Crime Exposé with Nancy O’Dell and iCRIME with Elizabeth Vargas, to be carried on Pluto TV in the U.K. and Canada, and Roku in the U.S. (🇺🇸 🇬🇧 🇨🇦)
- Noor Play, a Middle Eastern digital entertainment platform, has acquired four Turkish series from ATV’s catalogue: Street Birds, Lifeline, Zembilli, and Akinci. This deal expands their content offerings across the MENA region. (🇸🇦 🇹🇷)
- Netflix has reportedly acquired the digital rights for Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming film Kingdom for ₹53 crore, marking the highest amount paid for the digital rights of any of his films to date. The action-drama, directed by Gautham Tinnanuri, is Deverakonda’s most expensive project with a ₹130 crore budget and is set for a two-part theatrical release, with the first part on July 31, 2025. - Sensical, a US-based streaming service, acquired the animated preschool series Pip & Posy from UK-based Magic Light Pictures. The show, based on Axel Scheffler’s picture books, will also be available on Magic Light’s YouTube channel in the US. (🇺🇸 🇬🇧)

Cross-Border Collaborations, Joint Ventures, M&A and Partnerships!- Sky NZ has acquired Discovery NZ’s local channels, including Three, ThreeNow, and HGTV, along with a new WBD content supply deal. - Viaplay is acquiring the remaining 50% of satellite TV provider Allente from Telenor, marking a SEK1.1B move to strengthen its control in the Nordic market.
