Teresa Palmer has joined the cast of the upcoming live-action adaptation of God of War at Amazon Prime Video. Palmer will portray Sif, the wife of Thor and a prominent Aesir figure in the game series. She joins Ryan Hurst, who is set to play Kratos. Notably, Hurst previously voiced Thor in the video game God of War: Ragnarok.
Palmer is recognized for her roles in films such as The Fall Guy, Hacksaw Ridge, The Grudge 2, I Am Number Four, and Knight of Cups. Her television credits include A Discovery of Witches, The Clearing, and Mix Tape. She will also appear in the upcoming Australian series The Family Next Door. Palmer is represented by CAA, Management 360, Shanahan Management in Australia, and Sloane Offer.
The God of War series will follow the storyline of the two most recent games, focusing on Kratos and his ten-year-old son Atreus. According to the official description, “Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”
The project was first greenlit by Amazon’s streaming division in 2022. After original showrunner Rafe Judkins departed in October 2024, Ronald D. Moore took over as showrunner, writer, and executive producer under his Tall Ship Productions banner. Frederick E.O. Toye will direct the first two episodes. Additional executive producers include Maril Davis (Tall Ship), Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Jeff Ketcham, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, and Ben McGinnis serve as co-executive producers.
The series is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, in association with PlayStation Productions and Tall Ship Productions. Tall Ship Productions operates under an overall deal with Sony TV.
