Tiger Aspect Kids & Family Celebrates 15 Years of Tinga Tinga Tales
Tiger Aspect Kids & Family, a division of Banijay Kids & Family, proudly commemorates 15 years since the debut of its beloved animated series, Tinga Tinga Tales, on CBeebies and Disney Jr. In conjunction with this significant milestone, the studio has announced the approval for the construction of its 100th classroom, reinforcing its dedication to enhancing children’s lives in Kenya through education.
Inspired by Culture and Art
Created by Claudia Lloyd, Tinga Tinga Tales draws inspiration from Tanzanian Tingatinga art and traditional African animal folktales. The series consists of 52 episodes, each 11 minutes long, produced in Nairobi in collaboration with Homeboyz Entertainment, and continues to be distributed by NBCUniversal DreamWorks.
Commitment to Education
Tiger Aspect Kids & Family donates 50% of its net profits from Tinga Tinga Tales to build classrooms, significantly improving educational access in some of Kenya’s most impoverished and remote areas. Many of these 100 classrooms feature sustainable elements such as greenhouses, water harvesting systems, and sanitation facilities, thanks to partnerships with Safaricom and Coca-Cola.
Supporting Literacy and Development
In addition, over 40,000 Tinga Tinga Tales books and more than 350 Early Childhood Development training kits have been provided to teachers through the ‘Read a Book, Give a Book’ initiative.
A Heartfelt Legacy
“Tinga Tinga Tales is incredibly close to my heart. We trained over a hundred individuals in Nairobi to work on the series, which is now regarded as an animation badge of honor in East Africa,” shared series creator Claudia Lloyd. “The show’s anthem is sung with love worldwide, and we even brought the Tinga Tinga Tales musical to Broadway. Now, we are thrilled to break ground on our hundredth classroom! This is hard work with meaningful outcomes—it truly doesn’t get better than this!”
Continuing the Legacy
Tom Beattie, Managing Director of Tiger Aspect Kids & Family, remarked, “Tinga Tinga Tales was a unique show and a fantastic experience to work on. As we celebrate its 15th anniversary, Claudia’s unwavering passion ensures this series leaves a lasting legacy, positively impacting education with the milestone of 100 classrooms.”
