Mia & Codie Now Airing on PBS

The delightful preschool comedy Mia & Codie is currently airing on PBS member stations across the nation, thanks to the distribution efforts of American Public Television (APT). Created by the talented Don Moody, who is celebrated for the three-time Emmy Award-winning series WordWorld, this show is designed to introduce children aged 3 to 6 to the fundamentals of coding.

The series features Mia, an “almost” 8-year-old girl with a mission to make the world a more marvelous place through coding, and her charming “bro-bot” Codie, whom she built as her little brother. Codie is always ready for an adventure and can accomplish anything with the right code!

Co-Produced with Epic Story Media

Mia & Codie is co-produced with Epic Story Media and has received partial funding from the Shaw Rocket Fund. The series made its debut in March 2024 on TVO, Knowledge Network, and TFO.

Ken Faier, president and CEO of Epic Story Media, expressed his enthusiasm: “It has been a pleasure working with APT to find a great home for Mia & Codie. The response from PBS member stations has been overwhelmingly positive, showcasing the extraordinary series that Don has created.”

Expanding the Universe with Codie and Friends

Moody Studios and Epic Story Media are set to expand the Mia & Codie universe with an exciting spin-off series, Codie and Friends, slated for release in 2026. This new project will feature longer episodes (7 minutes each, up from 4 minutes) and will follow Codie on fresh adventures alongside a lovable group of friends.

“We’re thrilled to transition to a larger format that allows for even more comedy, creativity, and adventure,” said Ali Lynette-Krech, director at Moody Studios. “We’re actively seeking partners who share our passion for inspiring young minds through comedic educational entertainment. The Kidscreen Summit will be the perfect venue to connect with collaborators who can help us broaden Codie’s world and reach new audiences.”

“With Codie and Friends, we’re focusing on what kids love most—more physical comedy, bigger laughs, and an expanded cast of characters that children everywhere can relate to,” added Moody. “By incorporating universal emoji-like icons, we’ve created something that resonates with kids globally, regardless of the language they speak.”
