Tony Briggs and Damienne Pradier’s production company, Typecast, has appointed Christopher Kam as head of development.
In the new role, Kam will oversee Typecast’s slate and serve as an executive producer on select projects, guiding the company’s storytelling vision across scripted.
Typecast is a multi-disciplinary company, specialising in Indigenous creativity across advertising, theatrical, broadcast, and SVOD release, as well as stage and live event productions,
With more than 15 years of experience across the UK and Australia, Kam worked from 2023 – 2024 as a development producer at BBC Studios ANZ, where he led the development of Ghosts for Paramount+. Prior to that, he spent nine years in London as head of development at Eleventh Hour Films, leading the scripted team and shaping the company’s development strategy. Kam also served as director of scripted development at NBCUniversal International Studios, where he was studio executive on HANNA (Amazon) and The Capture seasons 1 and 2 (BBC), and script editor on The Long Song (BBC).

“We’re over the moon that Christopher has decided to join Typecast,” said Briggs, company director.
“He brings a level of skill and expertise to our team that will help take our business to the next level. We’re looking forward to our next chapter with Christopher on board.”
Commenting on his new role, Kam said: “I have been a fan of Tony’s work for a long time. As a TV executive who has lived and worked overseas, when I watched Australian content, I always wanted to see more shows that represented the multicultural Australia that I grew up in. Typecast’s mission is to tell stories that represent a diverse Australia and I’m thrilled to be joining the team.”
Typecast is supported by VicScreen’s First Peoples Capabilities Grant, with VicScreen CEO Caroline Pitcher delighted Kam would bring his experience to Typecast.
“We’re excited to see the projects that will emerge from the collaboration between Christopher and Tony Briggs, one of the nation’s leading Indigenous screen storytellers.”
