Cloud 10 Studios is launching a new 22-minute 3D animated Christmas special titled ‘The Greatest Gift: The Wrong Hat.’ The project, fully funded and set for delivery by the end of 2025, features industry veterans Joyce Miller and Rob Doherty as Executive Producers.

Cloud 10 Studios, a full-service animation studio known for creating original stories and characters, is set to launch a new 22-minute 3D animated family Christmas special titled The Greatest Gift: The Wrong Hat at MIP JUNIOR and MIPCOM. Led by production executive Tracey Dispensa, who has previously worked with DreamWorks and Disney/ILM, the project has secured full funding and is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2025.

Produced by Dispensa, known for her work on Shrek, Madagascar, and How to Train Your Dragon, the special is directed by Gary Trousdale, whose notable directing credits include Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Atlantis. Floyd Norman, recognized for his contributions to Mulan and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, serves as the Character Designer and Creative Consultant for the film.

Industry veterans Joyce Miller and Rob Doherty have joined the project as Executive Producers. They will collaborate with Dispensa to expand the film’s reach, seek distribution partners, and develop the franchise further. Miller has overseen over 150 animated productions across North America, Europe, and Asia, and is the founder of Linden Animation Consulting. She has held senior roles at Netflix, Spin Master Entertainment, and DisneyToon Studios. Doherty, a Kids Content Specialist with over 30 years of experience, has worked with various organizations including Aardman Animations, Disney, and ITV.

The story of The Greatest Gift: The Wrong Hat imagines a world where Christmas trees are not just decorations but gateways to a magical realm. In this enchanting holiday special, ornaments come to life, bustling with Christmas spirit among twinkling lights and candy canes. To the outside world, it appears to be just a tree, but a Christmas-obsessed girl named Lexi and her family are unaware of the ornaments’ secret mission to keep the holiday magic alive.

When a mishap threatens to dim the holiday cheer, a crisis within the tree puts Christmas morning at risk. Enter Chris, a new dinosaur ornament with a hero’s heart and a tendency to panic. On a quest to find his missing hat and prove himself among a quirky group of ornaments, Chris learns that true Christmas magic is about courage, friendship, and the spirit that binds them all.

The Greatest Gift: The Wrong Hat is just the beginning of the franchise, with a feature film and TV series already in development, along with additional holiday specials. Cloud 10 Studios is also launching a licensing and merchandising program for the brand, with the first partnership established with Lionel Trains to create a unique Cloud 10-themed train. An immersive show and live event are also in the works.

Dispensa expressed her excitement, stating, “Ever since Gary and I worked together at DreamWorks, we have dreamed of creating our own original film. Floyd’s imagination has helped bring it to life. We believe The Greatest Gift has all the elements to become a lasting franchise, and we are proud of our first holiday special. We are thrilled to have Joyce and Rob join the Cloud 10 team. Their expertise and connections in the international TV and film industry will help us reach a broader global audience. We are also excited to feature a classic Lionel toy train in our animated film, which adds a special kind of magic to our story.”
