With a record number of submissions and a focus on international collaboration, EWIP promises to be a pivotal platform for emerging filmmakers.
18 September 2025 – The eighth edition of European Work in Progress (EWIP) has received an impressive total of over 240 submissions, with 30 projects selected for this year’s event. Notably, Charades will be honored with the Best International Innovation Distribution Award at the International Film Distribution Summit (IFDS) during the event.
Taking place from 29 September to 1 October in the historic city of Hamburg, this year’s EWIP is a collaboration with Filmfest Hamburg and the MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein. This edition expands to include an additional day, further enhancing opportunities for filmmakers and industry professionals to connect and invest in late-stage European film projects.
Both EWIP and the IFDS, scheduled for 30 September to 2 October, are integral parts of Filmfest Hamburg’s Industry Days. The IFDS will kick off with case studies focusing on best practices for the international distribution and marketing of European arthouse cinema, in partnership with EWIP and Creative Europe Desks Germany.
The second day of the summit will feature keynote presentations from notable representatives, including:
- Velvet Spoon (Poland)
