HBO Max has officially acquired the U.S. rights to the poignant drama series ‘One Day in October’, which offers a scripted retelling of seven real-life stories set against the backdrop of the events that unfolded in Israel on October 7. This series is set to premiere on the two-year anniversary of the tragic 2023 Hamas attacks, weaving together the narratives of families and individuals who found themselves at the heart of these events.
Each story is intricately interwoven throughout the series, drawing directly from authentic memories and accounts of that fateful day. Fernando Szew, President and Head of FOX Entertainment Studios, expressed the significance of the project, stating, “The tragic events on October 7th had a profound impact on all of us. From the very beginning, we approached this series with the utmost care, sensitivity, and urgency to ensure that the stories were told with authenticity and respect, paying homage to the victims and the heroic survivors.”
He further praised the collaborative efforts, saying, “Oded and the incredible cast, crew, and teams at Sparks Go, ZOA, and Yes TV have truly created compelling storytelling that we are proud to showcase. We appreciate Moriah Media for joining us on this project and to HBO Max for giving One Day in October a platform in the U.S.”
Produced by Fox Entertainment Studios in partnership with Yes TV and in association with Moriah Media, the series is crafted by creators Oded Davidoff and Daniel Finkelman. It presents the events of October 7 in a real-time scripted format, with Davidoff also taking on writing and directing duties.
The series is filmed on location in Israel and features seven emotionally charged narratives that explore themes of love, courage, sacrifice, and survival. A plot description highlights, “From families torn apart to moments of hope emerging in the face of unspeakable tragedy, each episode reveals the human cost and resilience born out of chaos.”
One Day in October boasts a talented cast, including Swell Ariel Or, Noa Kedar, Naomi Levov, Hisham Suliman, Wael Hamdoun, Yuval Semo, Avi Azulay, Naveh Tzur, Yael Abecassis, Moran Rosenblatt, Michael Aloni, Neta Roth, Sean Softi, Lior Ashkenazi, and Uri Perelman. The writing team includes Liron Ben-Shlush, Amir Hasfari, Keren Weissman, Orit Dabush, and Yona Rozenkier.
Production is spearheaded by Finkelman, Chaya Amor, Aviv Ben-Shlush, Lee Ben-Shlush Kuperman, and Fernando Szew from FOX Entertainment Studios, with Jim Berk and Sheldon Rabinowitz from Moriah Media serving as executive producers. Additionally, Sparks Go from New York and Israeli production company ZOA co-produced the series.
Daniel Finkelman, Founder of Sparks Go, shared his perspective, stating, “For me, film and television have always been more than entertainment; they are a way to bear witness.
