Season 3 of House of the Dragon to Feature Returning and New Cast Members
Casting Announcements
The production team for House of the Dragon has announced a new set of casting updates for the third season of the hit series. The upcoming season, which is currently in production in the United Kingdom, will see a significant number of returning cast members, along with the introduction of new actors and the departure of several others.
New Additions
Seven new actors are set to join the cast for the third season. These include Tom Cullen, Annie Shapero, Barry Sloane, and Joplin Sibtain. Previously announced additions to the cast are James Norton, Tommy Flanagan, and Dan Fogler.
Returning Cast
A total of 22 stars from previous seasons will reprise their roles. Key returning actors include Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, and Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower. Also returning are Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Tom Glynn-Carney as Aegon II, Phia Saban as Helaena Targaryen, and Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen. Other notable returning cast members are Steve Toussaint, Harry Collett, Fabien Frankel, Matthew Needham, and Abubakar Salim, among others.
Departures
The production has confirmed that four actors will not be returning for the third season. This list includes Eve Best, who portrayed Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, Simon Russell Beale, Ella Torchia, and Tom Taylor.
