EXCLUSIVE:

ABC News Studios is set to explore some of the nation’s lesser-known murder cases in the compelling three-part true-crime docuseries, Murder Has Two Faces, which will begin streaming on Hulu on Tuesday, May 6.

Produced and directed by the Emmy-winning Lisa Cortés and hosted by Robin Roberts, co-anchor of Good Morning America, this docuseries aims to “shine a social justice light” on harrowing cases that have been overshadowed by more infamous murders.

Each episode delves into crimes that bear striking resemblances to high-profile cases, such as Laci Peterson, Chandra Levy, and the Craigslist Killer. Featured stories include:

    • Evelyn Hernandez, a pregnant mother who vanished with her 5-year-old son, with her remains later discovered in the San Francisco Bay, reminiscent of Laci Peterson’s case;

    • Joyce Chiang, a promising attorney who disappeared and was found dead in Washington, DC, similar to Chandra Levy;

    • The Tagged Killer, an American serial killer who exploited social networking, akin to the Craigslist Killer, to lure women to isolated locations where some met tragic fates.

The series features exclusive interviews with the victims’ friends and families, who fought tirelessly for justice and recognition, while exploring potential connections to these widely publicized cases.

Not only does the series unveil new insights into these overlooked crimes, but it also poses a critical question: why haven’t these cases received the same level of attention as their more notorious counterparts?

“With Murder Has Two Faces, I aimed to challenge the narrative surrounding whose stories are told — and why,” stated executive producer and director Cortés. “These cases are just as haunting, tragic, and deserving of national attention as the ones we commonly recognize. Partnering with ABC News Studios and Robin Roberts has been instrumental in bringing visibility to these hidden figures. By highlighting these overlooked lives, we’re not merely recounting true crime stories — we’re addressing the biases that dictate which victims are seen, heard, and granted justice.”

Murder Has Two Faces is produced by Cortés Filmworks and Blue Ant Studios for ABC News Studios. Lisa Cortés serves as director and executive producer, alongside executive producers Jon Sechrist, Tara Malone, Laura Michalchyshyn, Matthew Hornburg, and Mark J.W. Bishop. For ABC News Studios, Claire Weinraub is the executive producer, Katie Conway is the senior producer, and David Sloan serves as the senior executive producer.
