Warner Bros. has appointed Ted Lim, a former executive from Amazon MGM Studios, as its new Chief Business Officer. Lim, who previously led global strategy and business development at MGM, will assume this newly established role this week, reporting to the co-chiefs of the Motion Picture Group, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy.

With a wealth of experience in film strategy, Lim joined MGM in 2018 after his tenure at Participant Media, where he was the senior vice president of strategy and business development, focusing on investments and acquisitions. Earlier in his career, he was part of Disney’s corporate strategy and business development team.

During his time at Amazon, Lim significantly influenced the company’s film strategy, leading the expansion of its theatrical slate. He managed major upcoming projects such as The Accountant 2, Project Hail Mary, Masters of the Universe, and The Thomas Crown Affair, while also overseeing distribution strategies for recent releases like Creed III, Challengers, The Beekeeper, and American Fiction.

De Luca and Abdy praised Lim’s contributions, particularly his role in securing global theatrical windows for Red One and Air, as well as managing Amazon’s international theatrical distribution partnership with Warner Bros. Notably, Red One, featuring Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson, emerged as one of the most-streamed films of the year, according to Nielsen’s 2024 rankings, following its theatrical release on November 15. Warner Bros. was responsible for its international distribution.
