We were honored to handle the full post-production for Will Smith’s latest music video, “Beautiful Scars.” This project was more than just a music video—it was a cinematic journey blending introspection with high-concept visuals.

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the video pays homage to The Matrix, with Will Smith stepping into the role of Neo—a nod to the role he famously declined. Big Sean portrays Morpheus, guiding Smith through a narrative that explores themes of regret, resilience, and self-discovery.

Our team at The Refinery managed editing, color grading, VFX, and sound design, bringing this complex vision to life. Utilizing cutting-edge LED volume technology, we created immersive environments without relying on green screens, ensuring every frame was captured in-camera.

This project not only showcases our technical capabilities but also highlights South Africa’s growing influence in the global post-production landscape. We’re proud to have contributed to a piece that resonates both emotionally and visually.
