The Hive Studio Expands into Greece
The esteemed animation powerhouse, The Hive Studio, renowned for co-producing Tal Kantor’s Oscar-nominated short “Letter to a Pig,” has officially established a new European branch in Greece. This new venture, The Hive Greece, is launched in collaboration with Athens-based Animasyros Productions, with the goal of uniting Southern Mediterranean talent and enhancing cross-European animation co-productions.
A Strategic Collaboration
This partnership represents a strategic initiative to strengthen the international presence of the Greek animation industry. Animasyros Productions, recognized for hosting Greece’s largest animation film festival, the Animasyros International Animation Festival, aligns with The Hive’s vision to foster creative synergy and innovation in storytelling.
Successful Past Collaborations
The Hive Studio has previously collaborated with Animasyros on several significant projects, including the short film “P,” directed by Stelios Koupetoris and co-produced with the Greek Film Center. This film recently garnered the ASIFA-Hellas Award for Best Screenplay and has been showcased at various international festivals.
Excitement for New Opportunities
Amit Russell Gicelter, Founder and CEO of The Hive Studio, shared his enthusiasm for this new venture: “I’m truly excited to be collaborating with the Greek industry. Over the past several months, we’ve been developing, producing, and collaborating together. It feels like a natural and meaningful evolution for our company. I can’t wait to explore the opportunities that lie ahead.”
Nurturing Emerging Talent
Beyond production, The Hive Greece will also provide animation courses to cultivate emerging talent, starting with a specialized Toon Boom masterclass. Additionally, the branch will take advantage of Greece’s 40% rebate on foreign investment to foster partnerships with European studios.
A Commitment to Global Storytelling
Established in 2010, The Hive Studio has evolved into an internationally recognized creative hub, delivering award-winning animation across various genres and platforms. This expansion into Greece highlights its dedication to global storytelling and artistic collaboration.
