Stars Collective has joined forces with El Pajaro Pictures Shanghai Co., Ltd. to collaboratively develop, produce, and distribute an animated film adaptation of the beloved classic, The Little Prince.
This literary masterpiece, penned by French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, has captured hearts globally since its release in 1943. The upcoming adaptation will delve into Saint-Exupéry’s life from 1940 to 1944, utilizing innovative hybrid animation techniques. The film will seamlessly blend 2D “expressive” watercolor styles to illustrate the whimsical world of the Little Prince, alongside 3D “realistic” oil painting aesthetics to portray the author’s real-life experiences.
The project has received full authorization and support from POMASE, the official managing body of Saint-Exupéry’s legacy.
“The family of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry has long envisioned a Chinese animated film adaptation of The Little Prince, especially considering the book’s immense success in China,” stated POMASE President Olivier d’Agay. “We chose El Pajaro as our Chinese partner because we trust their commitment to honoring our uncle’s work. I share a unified vision for the film’s content with its director, Mr. Li Jihong, who is also the successful translator of the book into Mandarin, which has sold millions. I have complete confidence in his deep understanding of the book’s messages and his extensive knowledge of my uncle’s life. We hope the final product resonates with Chinese families and all fans of Le Petit Prince.”
“By integrating cutting-edge AI technology and innovative animation aesthetics, we aim to deliver an unparalleled visual experience,” added Peter Luo, Founder of Stars Collective. “This collaboration will not only enhance The Little Prince’s global reach but also pave the way for new intersections between culture and technology.”
The Little Prince is currently in production, with Li Jihong serving as both the director and the official translator of the text into Chinese.
