The Saudi Film Commission has announced the development of JAX Film Studios, a state-of-the-art production complex located in Riyadh. This facility is poised to become a significant film and media hub in the region. Covering over 7,000 sqm, it will include two large sound stages, each measuring 1,500 sqm, along with a high-tech virtual production unit utilizing Sony’s most advanced screen technology.

Tailored to meet the dynamic needs of contemporary filmmaking, the studio will feature a private cinema, reception and event spaces, and fully equipped production preparation areas. The goal is to create a comprehensive environment that supports both local and international filmmakers.

Abdullah Al-Qahtani, CEO of the Saudi Film Commission, stated, “JAX Film Studios is a pivotal element of our strategy to establish a world-class film infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.”

“As we evolve into one of the region’s leading production hubs, this facility is designed to adhere to the highest international standards — empowering local creatives while attracting global talent.”

Abduljalil Alnasser, the commission’s General Manager of Sector Development and Investment Attraction, added, “With JAX Film Studios, we are introducing one of the world’s most advanced and largest virtual production stages, powered by Sony’s latest innovations, unlocking limitless creative possibilities.”

The launch of JAX Film Studios is part of the Commission’s broader initiative to enhance cinematic infrastructure, cultivate local talent, and establish international partnerships. These efforts align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives to transform the Kingdom into a global center for media and film production.

This announcement was made during the 78th Cannes International Film Festival, where the Saudi Film Commission hosted a national pavilion that attracted significant interest from filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals worldwide.
