Kristen Bell to Host 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards
Kristen Bell is confirmed as the host for the 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The actress and producer will take on hosting responsibilities for the second time. In 2018, Bell made history by being the first host of the SAG Awards since it began in 1995. Megan Mullally assumed hosting duties the following year. Despite having many celebrity presenters, the SAG Awards has not featured another official host since then. Idris Elba did deliver a short monologue to open last year’s show but was not the host.
“I’m excited to be hosting the SAG Awards again this year,” Bell expressed in a statement. “It’s an honor to be invited back, and I look forward to celebrating the evening with my fellow actors and recognizing our achievements 🙂.”
Currently, Bell stars in the Netflix comedy series *Nobody Wants This* alongside Adam Brody, for which she also serves as an executive producer.
“Kristen Bell’s humor, warmth, and charm make her the ideal choice for our show, which celebrates actors and their exceptional performances throughout the year,” stated Jon Brockett, executive producer of the SAG Awards. “Plus — everyone wants this.”
Bell’s recent acting roles include leading parts in the Amazon Prime comedy film *The People We Hate at the Wedding* with Allison Janney and Ben Platt, as well as in Netflix’s parody comedy *The Woman in the House*. She is also set to reprise her role as Joanne in Season 2 of *Nobody Wants This*.
Her other notable credits include *The Good Place*, *Do, Re, & Mi*, *Queenpins*, *Frozen* and its sequel, *Bad Moms*, *Like Father*, *The Lifeguard*, *The Boss*, *Hit & Run*, *Movie 43*, *Some Girls*, *You Again*, *Burlesque*, *When in Rome*, *Couples Retreat*, *Forgetting Sarah Marshall*, *Pulse*, *Serious Moonlight*, *Spartan*, *Veronica Mars*, *Parks & Recreation*, *Unsupervised*, *Deadwood*, *Heroes*, and *Party Down*.
It has also been announced that Jane Fonda will receive the SAG Life Achievement Award at the ceremony. The nominees for the 31st SAG Awards will be revealed on January 8.
The SAG Awards ceremony will be streamed live on Netflix on February 23 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. This marks the second year of a multi-year collaboration between the SAG Awards and Netflix.
Silent House Productions will return to produce the ceremony, with Jon Brockett and Silent House’s Baz Halpin, Mark Bracco, and Linda Gierahn serving as executive producers.
