Directed, written, and executive produced by the talented duo Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, with David Lally producing, this series intricately weaves the stories of eight unique characters as they gear up for their championship softball game. It offers a genuine glimpse into the lives of each character—from the anxious kids and their overprotective parents to a lovesick umpire—delivering a blend of humor, emotion, and distinctive animation.

Star-Studded Cast

The series features a remarkable cast, including Will Forte as Coach Dan, alongside Rosie Foss, Josh Thomson, Milan Elizabeth Ray, Rosa Salazar, Dorien Watson, Izaac Wang, Chanel Stewart, Lil Rel Howery, Melissa Villaseñor, Jo Firestone, Flula Borg, Kyleigh Curran, Jaylin Fletcher, Erin Keif, Tom Law, Beck Nolan, Orion Tran, and Rhea Seehorn. The musical score is crafted by renowned composer Ramin Djawadi, complemented by original songs from CAMPFIRE and Djawadi.

Inspiration Behind the Series

“Having played softball in my youth,” Hobson shared, “I felt that fast-pitch softball was the ideal backdrop for our show. Sports can reveal both the best and worst in people; even the calmest individuals can lose their cool. The stakes of winning and losing may seem trivial, yet they hold immense significance. We believed this was the perfect arena to explore the themes we are passionate about.”

Yates added, “The idea of showcasing diverse perspectives emerged from our daily experiences at Pixar. While working on ‘Toy Story 4,’ Carrie and I often discussed various topics, from the film to current events. We frequently had differing reactions to the same situation—one of us might say, ‘That went great!’ while the other would counter, ‘No! It was terrible!’ This realization that our individual experiences shape our perceptions inspired us to tell a story that reflects this dynamic.”
