Paramount+ has unveiled the first images from its forthcoming U.K. original series, The Crow Girl, featuring Eve Myles, Katherine Kelly, Dougray Scott, and Elliot Edusah.
This six-episode thriller is based on Erik Axl Sund’s acclaimed novel of the same name and is produced by the Emmy-winning team at Buccaneer, known for projects like Irvine Welsh’s Crime and Marcella.
As the bodies of unidentified young men are discovered throughout the city, each showing signs of brutal treatment and the presence of the anesthetic lidocaine, DCI Jeanette Kilburn (Myles) and her partner DI Lou Stanley (Scott) embark on a quest to identify the murderer.
With evidence scarce and mounting pressure to resolve the case, Jeanette seeks the assistance of Dr. Sophia Craven (Kelly), the psychotherapist of prime suspect Carl Lowry. Dr. Craven provides a new yet concerning angle on the investigation. As the threat of the killer looms closer, Jeanette and her team scramble against time to unravel the tangled web of secrets.
The cast also includes Clara Rugaard (from I Am Mother, Press Play, The Rising) as Victoria Burkeman, Victoria Hamilton (from COBRA, The Crown, Life) as Superintendent Verity Pound, and Chloé Sweetlove (from My Husband’s Double Life, Tutankhamun, Our Fathers) as Madeleine.
Milly Thomas has adapted the series for the screen, writing four episodes and serving as an executive producer, while Charles Martin and Rebecca Rycroft are the directors. Tony Wood and Richard Tulk-Hart are executive producers for Buccaneer, and Andy Mosse is the producer of the series.
The Crow Girl is produced in collaboration with and distributed by ITV Studios. It was commissioned by Sebastian Cardwell, deputy chief content officer for the U.K., and Paul Testar, commissioning editor for Paramount+.
The series is set to premiere on the streaming service in the U.K. and Ireland early next year, with details regarding U.S. streaming still pending.
