Jenna Ortega’s Vision for Directing

 

Jenna Ortega is setting her sights high with aspirations to step into the director’s chair. After a decade of developing a script, she feels the time has come to bring her vision to life.

Timing is Everything

 

In a recent interview, the Wednesday star shared her excitement about finally being ready to realize a script she has nurtured for years.

A Decade in the Making

 

“I have a script that I’ve known I was going to make for almost 10 years. It’s interesting because it originated when I was younger, just starting in this industry. Now, I’m beginning to take the necessary steps to get it made,” Ortega told V Magazine. “I’m piecing everything together in my mind, and I believe I needed a few years of experience to grasp the process.”

Directing as a Priority

 

She emphasized, “This project resonates with me personally, but my primary goal is to direct. I envision that for myself. It aligns with how my mind operates and even influences my approach to acting.”

Executive Producer Experience

 

Although Ortega has yet to direct, she has made her mark as an executive producer on projects like Death of a Unicorn and the upcoming season of Wednesday. She is also set to star and executive produce in Hurry Up Tomorrow, a thriller directed and written by Edward Shults, where she will share the screen with The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan.

Future Aspirations

 

Looking ahead, Ortega stated, “While I don’t want to act in everything I create, starting out, I recognize that leveraging my name as an actor can serve as a valuable stepping stone.”
