Official US Trailer for ‘Bad Boy’ Series from the Creator of ‘Euphoria’

“True story, I swear.” Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Bad Boy, an Israeli series crafted by the original creators of the acclaimed Israeli version of “Euphoria.” This series made its debut at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival and has since been acquired by Netflix, set to stream globally this May. From the visionary Ron Leshem, who brought us the original Israeli “Euphoria” in 2012 (later adapted by HBO), Bad Boy is an award-winning narrative that delves into themes of youth, survival, and redemption.

Inspired by real-life events, the series follows Dean, a teenager navigating the challenges of juvenile detention, who discovers the transformative power of creativity. The cast features talented actors such as Daniel Chen, Havtamo Farda, Neta Plotnik, and Guy Manster in the role of Dean. This compelling drama portrays the journey of a troubled teen sent to a harsh juvenile facility, showcasing how his humor and resilience help him endure. While it may not seem like the most uplifting series at first glance, the trailer hints at the creativity and uniqueness of this project, reminiscent of the impactful storytelling found in City of God.

Bad Boy tells the poignant story of Dean Scheinman (played by Guy Manster), a teenager in a juvenile detention center. The series offers a gripping exploration of youth, redemption, brotherhood, and friendship, chronicling Dean’s journey from confinement to the discovery of his unique creative talents that help him heal from deep emotional scars.

This series is co-created and co-written by showrunner Ron Leshem (known for the original “Euphoria,” “No Man’s Land,” “Valley of Tears,” “Traitor,” and “Red Skies”) alongside filmmaker Hagar Ben Asher (of Long Bright River and The Slut). The writing team includes Daniel Amsel, Daniel Chen, Amit Cohen, Roee Florentin, Moshe Malka, Adi Samarias, and Guy Zach, with all episodes directed by Hagar Ben-Asher.
