The Project
Hook:
There’s a version of the ocean that kids have never seen – one where every creature has a real superpower, and every episode unlocks a new one. That world already exists, fully imagined, fully populated, and waiting for the right partner to bring it to screen.
Concept:
Ocean Buddies is a preschool CGI animated series built at the intersection of music-driven storytelling, STEM education, and character-led franchise IP. Each episode introduces a new marine creature whose real biological ability – echolocation, camouflage, electrical sensing – becomes the engine of the story, giving the show a built-in curriculum spine that broadcasters and parents trust and kids don’t notice. The series sits in the creative universe of Bubble Guppies and Octonauts, but leads with an aspirational female protagonist and an integrated music strategy designed for repeat viewing and multi-platform reach. This is an original IP registered with the U.S. Library of Congress – designed from day one as a global franchise, not just a show.
Format:
CGI Animated Series · Preschool (ages 3–7) · Season 1: 12 × 11′ · Expandable to 52 × 11′ across multiple seasons · Multi-platform franchise potential across content, music, and consumer products
Comparables:
✓ Octonauts — 2B+ YouTube lifetime views; $49M franchise stake acquired by Wanda Studios · Long-run edutainment benchmark
✓ Bubble Guppies — 6 seasons on Nickelodeon/Nick Jr., 12-year run · Underwater preschool proof of concept
✓ Bluey — Most-streamed children’s show globally (Disney+/ABC); licensing revenues generating reported nine-figure returns · Gold standard for character-led franchise IP
What’s Ready
IP & Development Status:
Original IP, fully conceived and documented, with official U.S. Copyright Office registration (Library of Congress) held by Just by Faith Music LLC (Delaware, U.S.). Development includes a full character bible detailing six core characters with defined arcs and abilities, alongside a documented 52-episode series arc. A comprehensive music strategy is fully developed, featuring original character songs and a recurring theme. All materials are available under NDA on request.
The Team:
✓ Carlo R.S. Diaz (Creator / Executive Producer / Music Composer) — 30+ years in kids and family content; branded entertainment credits with Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon; developed branded series for Discovery Channel and MTV Networks.
✓ Rodrigo Benet (Executive Producer) — Named Mexico’s Best CFO (2022); leads financing strategy, licensing frameworks, and global commercial expansion.
✓ Beth Richman (Curriculum Consultant) — Former Director of Content at Sesame Workshop; extensive educational consulting credits include Nickelodeon, DreamWorks Animation, Fred Rogers Productions, and Scholastic Media.
✓ Vicente Solis (Series Consultant) — Former VP of Content at Viacom/MTV Networks (15 years); advises on market positioning, network expectations, and international distribution pipelines.
The Opportunity
The Ask:
Co-production partner and/or financing for Season 1 (12 × 11′). Total Season 1 budget is $3.4M USD. Open to broadcaster pre-buy, co-production equity, or hybrid financing structures. Animation studio (Galgo, Uruguay) and line producers (Ludica) are fully confirmed and attached.
Why Now:
Global demand for preschool STEM content is at its highest point, with platforms actively seeking IP that can travel across markets without heavy localisation costs. Underwater and nature-based settings consistently outperform in international licensing – and the music-first approach positions this series for streaming virality and repeat viewing in ways that purely narrative shows cannot. The window for first-mover advantage in the franchise-ready preschool STEM space is open now.
De-Risked From Day One:
✓ Copyright-protected original IP — Registered with the U.S. Library of Congress, owned free and clear by a U.S. Delaware LLC
✓ Award-winning CGI animation studio attached — Galgo (Uruguay), a Golden Gran Campana winner, is fully attached and confirmed
✓ Broadcaster-ready curriculum framework — Built by a consultant with Sesame Workshop, Nickelodeon, and DreamWorks Animation credits, significantly reducing broadcaster pitch risk
✓ Diversified revenue stream potential — Music-integrated IP strategy enables monetization across streaming, digital platforms, and consumer products independent of broadcaster deal timing
Most Interesting Project For
The Broadcaster or Platform Acquiring Preschool STEM Slate:
You’re actively looking for an underwater, nature-led series with a strong female lead, an educational spine, and franchise potential – and you want it before it goes to someone else.
The Co-Production Partner Seeking Latin American or Global Kids IP:
You have animation infrastructure, territory rights, or financing capacity, and you’re looking for an original IP with U.S. copyright protection, a built-in music strategy, and a team that has delivered for Disney, Nickelodeon, and Discovery.
The Licensing and Consumer Products Investor:
You understand that the real value in preschool is the franchise – and you’re looking for an IP with a cast of distinctive, toy-ready characters, a proven music hook, and a curriculum backbone that gives it shelf life in broadcast and retail for years.
