Netflix Unveils Behind-the-Scenes Featurette for Aardman’s Latest Animated Film

Netflix has launched a new featurette that offers a behind-the-scenes look at Aardman’s upcoming animated film, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, set to premiere on the platform tomorrow, January 3. The video features a lively performance by actor Ben Whitehead, who voices Wallace, the quirky, cheese-obsessed inventor from Northern England. Whitehead discusses various phonetic elements, including how “necessity is the mother-in-law of invention,” while demonstrating how the word “cheese” transforms into “cheeeeeese” and other signature Wallace expressions. Having previously collaborated with Peter Sallis, the original voice of Wallace, Whitehead has successfully taken on this iconic role.

The featurette also includes impressive time-lapse stop-motion production footage and introduces a new character, PC Mukhergee, voiced by Lauren Patel.

Enjoy!

Creative Team and Storyline

Academy Award-winning director Nick Park and Emmy Award-nominated Merlin Crossingham lead this exciting new adventure, which explores Gromit’s increasing concern over Wallace’s reliance on his inventions. Gromit’s fears are validated when Wallace creates a “smart” gnome named Norbot, which appears to develop its own consciousness. As a vengeful figure from the past begins to manipulate events, it becomes Gromit’s responsibility to confront dark forces and rescue his master, or Wallace may never invent again!

Reece Shearsmith (known for League of Gentlemen and Inside No.9) voices Norbot, with a supporting cast that includes Patel, Peter Kay, Diane Morgan, Adjoa Andoh, Muzz Khan, and Lenny Henry.

Mark Burton wrote the screenplay based on a story co-created with Park, while John Powell serves as the composer.

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, which had a limited theatrical release on December 18, will be available globally on Netflix (excluding the UK and Ireland) starting January 3, 2025.
