Netflix's Dubbing Immersion: Breaking Barriers in the Audiovisual Industry

Netflix, in partnership with École Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle (ESRA), has launched an innovative program called Netflix’s Dubbing Immersion. This initiative aims to help sound engineers discover the technical specifications and best practices in the dubbing field, ensuring they are well-equipped for careers in the industry.

The Purpose of Netflix's Dubbing Immersion

The program serves two significant purposes:

Accessibility: It strives to make audiovisual careers accessible to underrepresented students, particularly those facing challenges due to disabilities or geographic location. By providing these opportunities, Netflix hopes to broaden the talent pool and encourage diverse voices in the industry.

Promoting Equality: The initiative also focuses on promoting gender equality in a traditionally male-dominated field. By offering training and exposure to a diverse group of participants, Netflix aims to create a more inclusive environment in the dubbing and sound engineering sectors.

Location and Experience

Netflix’s Dubbing Immersion takes place in Paris’s largest dubbing studios, providing participants with a hands-on, full-immersion experience. Here, they have the opportunity to meet and learn from actors and artistic directors, gaining invaluable insights into the dubbing process.

One of the studios selected for this pioneering program is TITRAFILM. As part of the program, participants like Thomas receive both theoretical training and practical experience. Thomas explored various careers in the audio field through a mixing session at TITRAFILM with Hamid Naghibi and a dubbing session with Barbara Delsol at À LA PLAGE Studio, a new site in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.

A New Tradition in Audiovisual Training

Netflix’s Dubbing Immersion marks the beginning of a new tradition in audiovisual training, emphasizing inclusivity and accessibility. By partnering with renowned studios like TITRAFILM, Netflix is paving the way for a more diverse and equitable future in the dubbing and sound engineering industries.
