MeTV Toons is set to unveil ‘The House of Hanna-Barbera,’ a captivating programming block that will air on weekdays and Sunday afternoons. This initiative aims to celebrate the iconic cartoons from the renowned Hanna-Barbera animation studio, featuring beloved characters such as Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Secret Squirrel, Snagglepuss, Pixie and Dixie, Wally Gator, and Touché Turtle.

 

Why This Matters

 

Animation historian Jerry Beck emphasizes the significance of these cartoons, stating, “These shows represent the pinnacle of animated storytelling. The characters embody the essence of the studio, showcasing unique personalities, innovative character designs, and the quintessential Hanna-Barbera aesthetic. The memorable lines penned by top writers from Warner Bros. and Disney, such as ‘How much is that gorilla in the window?’ and ‘I hate those meeces to pieces!’ resonate with audiences even today.”

 

Beck further notes, “These cartoons are infused with the voices that defined our childhoods. Legends like Daws Butler, Mel Blanc, June Foray, and Don Messick brought these characters to life, while Hoyt Curtin crafted unforgettable theme songs. What to Expect

 

To kick off this exciting new block, MeTV Toons will host a special three-hour primetime sneak peek on Sunday, February 16, from 8-11 PM ET/PT. Following this preview, the block will settle into its regular timeslot from 11 AM-1 PM ET/PT, starting on Monday, February 17. Additionally, viewers can enjoy the block on Sunday afternoons from 1-3 PM ET/PT, beginning February 23.
