Exciting Developments for Krypto in the Superman Franchise

For those captivated by the fresh portrayal of Superman’s remarkable dog, Krypto, in the latest Superman trailer, there’s more good news on the horizon! Director James Gunn and DC are set to expand Krypto’s adventures with a series of animated shorts.

As reported by Comicbook.com, Gunn has confirmed that Krypto will feature in four seasonal shorts, which will debut following the live-action film’s release in theaters on July 11.

“We’ve got these fantastic little Krypto shorts that are incredibly fun. I’ve been watching all of them,” Gunn shared. “He’s a hilariously bad dog. It’s designed for families and is just really enjoyable and silly. It’s pretty awesome.”

“This is definitely the Krypto you’ll fall in love with in Superman. He’s a truly terrible dog,” added executive producer Peter Safran.

These four animated shorts are set to launch in the fall, although it’s still uncertain whether David Corenswet‘s Superman/Clark Kent will make an appearance or if the shorts will be live-action. However, they will feature the same Krypto from the upcoming Superman film. The trailer hinted that Krypto may reside in the Fortress of Solitude, assisting Superman after a significant event.

This isn’t Krypto’s first foray into animation; he previously starred in Warner Bros. Animation’s Krypto the Superdog, which aired on Kids WB! from March 2005 to December 2006, produced by Paul Dini and Linda Steiner.

Stay tuned to discover what other animated projects Gunn and Safran are planning for the near future!
