The teaser for the sequel to the 2019 Taiwanese series “The World Between Us” premiered at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF), drawing a full house, with “Meteor Garden” star Vic Chou at the forefront of a talented ensemble cast.

Scheduled for release in 2025, this series has undergone five years of script development. It begins with an arson incident and delves into themes of choice, healing, and the shortcomings of social support systems, inspired by real judicial cases.

The two-minute preview presented an expansive storyline that unfolds over two decades, following six families affected by various events, including a police stabbing, a train derailment, and a parliamentary clash.

Director Lin Chun Yang, alongside Golden Bell Award-winning producer Jayde Lin and writer Lu Shih Yuan, compared the scale of production to “creating three dramas simultaneously.”

Chou plays the role of Ma Yi-sen, a character grappling with the tragic loss of his wife and child in an accident. “Ma Yi-sen is a deeply emotional character, facing moments of profound grief, breakdowns, and uncontrollable anger,” Chou expressed during the event.

The cast features Hsueh Shih-ling as the troubled legislator Kao Cheng-kuang, who described his character as “idealistic and torn between self-fulfillment and traditional politics,” feeling like “a sandwich filling” caught between dreams and reality.

Hsueh mentioned that working alongside veteran actor Yang Kuei-mei, who portrays his mother, was “an exhilarating experience.” Liu Tzu-chuan takes on the role of Hu Guan-jun, a young man with ADHD whose actions become pivotal to the storyline, while 15-year-old Ryan Pai plays Luo Yu, whose family experiences turmoil following a violent event.

This series is a collaboration between the Taiwan Creative Content Agency, Public Television Service Foundation, Asiaplay Taiwan Digital Entertainment, and KOKO Entertainment, with DaMou Entertainment as the producer. International sales are managed by Screenworks Asia, Catchplay’s production division.
