Arts Alliance Unveils £17M Fund to Support Indie Films at Garden Studios
Garden Studios’ parent company, Arts Alliance, has announced the launch of a co-production initiative aimed at supporting independent films produced at its central London facility.
Funding Structure
Operating through its production arm, Arts Alliance Productions, the initiative will offer support for films with budgets ranging from £5 million to £10 million. The backing will come through a combination of equity investment and a cashflow facility designed to complete financing packages.
Financial Scope and Expansion
The programme begins with a £17 million revolving credit facility. This figure may increase with the addition of prospective partners, enhancing the fund’s capacity to support more projects.
Annual Output and Industry Alignment
The initiative aims to back five to eight films annually. It aligns with the UK’s recently enhanced Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit (AVEC) and the Independent Film Tax Credit (IFTC), both of which are geared toward films with qualifying expenditure under £15 million.
Executive Commentary
Thomas Hoegh, founder of Arts Alliance and CEO of Garden Studios, emphasized the studio’s commitment to independent filmmakers. “We work very hard to be accessible to independent filmmakers, challenging them to embrace technology and to get more artistically out of budgets by delivering projects faster to create value for all,” Hoegh said. He added that the initiative aims to help producers achieve their ambitions while attracting top-tier projects to the studio.
Facility Expansion
Established in 2021, Garden Studios recently expanded with four new sound stages, bringing its total to eight. Spanning 98,000 square feet, the facility includes the only permanent virtual production stage located in central London.
