Texas is Back — Again

Universal Television is in the early stages of developing a new iteration of Friday Night Lights, the critically acclaimed drama centered around a Texas high school football team. The original series aired for five seasons from 2006 to 2011 on NBC and DirecTV’s 101 Network.

The original show’s executive producers — Pete Berg, Jason Katims, and Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment — are set to be part of the new version. Sources indicate that the reboot will introduce new characters instead of revisiting the cast led by Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton from the original series.

Universal TV has chosen not to comment at this time.
