CJ ENM Hong Kong partners with Far EasTone Telecom and TVBS to create a $30 million fund for investing in Mandarin-language content. The fund aims to support Taiwanese and Korean narratives, talent development, and global distribution, fostering cross-border collaboration and promoting Asian content worldwide.

Korea’s CJ ENM Hong Kong has teamed up with Taiwanese telecommunications company Far EasTone Telecom, broadcaster TVBS Media, and Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) to introduce a $30 million fund aimed at investing in Mandarin-language content. The newly established Taiwan-Korea ‘Entertainment and Cultural Content Fund’ will focus on IP exchange, Mandarin-language content production, and investment, supporting various formats that highlight local Taiwanese and Korean stories. The fund will also facilitate talent development and the distribution of completed content both locally and internationally.

The launch ceremony of the fund took place at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) and was attended by Taiwan’s Minister of Culture Li Yuan, Sean Cho (Executive Vice President, Head of Global Business Division at CJ ENM), Sheena Liu (President of TVBS), and Chee Ching (President of Far EasTone Telecom). Cho expressed that the fund symbolizes their belief in cross-border collaboration as essential for promoting Asian content globally. The long-term vision includes empowering Taiwanese intellectual property to reach a global audience, encouraging new corporate productions, adaptations, and remakes that resonate worldwide with Taiwan’s unique stories.

CJ ENM is expanding its global presence through the international distribution of Korean content, investments in Fifth Season in North America, and partnerships with key players like broadcaster TBS in Japan. CJ ENM Hong Kong, with offices in Hong Kong and Singapore, is actively involved in content production in various languages across Southeast Asia. The collaboration with Taiwanese partners aims to leverage the strengths of each party, going beyond financial contributions: CJ ENM HK’s global production and distribution network, TAICCA’s local intellectual property and industry expertise, Far EasTone Telecom’s digital innovation and technology capabilities, and TVBS Media’s extensive reach and production proficiency.

The establishment of the fund follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed at TCCF in 2023 between TAICCA, CJ ENM HK, Far EasTone Telecommunications, and TVBS Media.
