The highly anticipated third and final season of the 2D adult animated series Blood of Zeus is set to stream on Netflix later this year. This series has made waves by earning a nomination in the Animation category at the upcoming 2025 WGA Awards, distinguishing itself as the only “drama” nominee amidst a landscape dominated by animated comedies like The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers.

Crafted by talented Greek-American storytellers Charley and Vlas Parlapanides, Blood of Zeus delves into the captivating realm of Greek mythology through the eyes of Heron, a demigod on a perilous quest to rescue humanity from wrathful gods and terrifying demons.

The path to bringing this dramatic series to Netflix was not without its challenges. Vlas shared, “We had to demonstrate that there was an audience for a dramatic, action-driven animated series steeped in mythology.” Fortunately, platforms like Netflix, Amazon, and Disney have expanded the landscape, and the success of shows such as Castlevania, Invincible, and X-Men ’97 has paved the way for innovative storytelling in animation.

Star-Studded Voice Cast

 

The series boasts an impressive voice cast, including Derek Phillips as Heron, Jessica Henwick as Alexia, Elias Toufexis as Seraphim, Jason O’Mara as Zeus, Chris Diamantopoulos as Evios, Mamie Gummer as Electra, and Mathew Mercer as Hermes.

 

In an exclusive update, Charley revealed that Simon Kassianides from The Mandalorian has joined the cast as the voice of Orpheus, adding further excitement to the upcoming season.

The series is produced by Brad Graeber and Michael Hughes alongside the Parlapanides brothers, with Jae H. Kim serving as supervising director. The animation is brought to life by Powerhouse.
